主啊！教导我儿子，
在软弱时，能坚强不屈；
在惧怕时，能够勇敢自持；
在诚实的失败中，毫不气馁；
在光明的胜利中，仍保持谦逊和温和。
教导我儿子，
笃实力行，而不从事空想；
使他认识你，
同时也认识他自己，
这才是一切知识的开端，
我乞求你不要将他引上逸乐之途，
而将他置于困难及挑战的磨练与刺激之下；
使他学着在风暴中站起来，
而又由此学着同情那些跌到的人，
求你让他有一颗纯洁的心，一个高尚的目标；
在学习指挥别人之前，先学会自制；
在迈向未来之时，而不遗忘过去。

Build me a son, O Lord! Who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; on
Build me a son, whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Lead him I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.
Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; on
And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
Then, I, his father, will dare to whisper, have not lived in vain.
